4: Create Materials from each .x file subset

RedEyedJealousy edited this page Aug 15, 2018 · 2 revisions

This feature allows you to create the same number of materials as subsets are in a .x file with them respective Normal, Specular, Smoothness, Metalness, Parallax and Occlusion Maps and then attach them to your MMD project as your wish.

DISCLAIMER

  1. YOU NEED TO HAVE ALREADY CREATED YOUR MAP FILES, THIS FEATURE ONLY PUTS ALL THE THINGS TOGETHER IN ORDER TO SAVE TIME.

  2. This feature can't read a .PMX file (that's one of the reasons why this is a beta), however you can make it work just by converting the .pmx you desire to .x with PMXEditor in order to make the application work. This .x file will ONLY be used to know what is the texturename for each subset.

  3. Some .x files may not work properly... //Future

Having all of this in mind, let's proceed to the guide.

At first, you need to set the default parameters that all your material files will have. You can set them whether from a default material or an existing one.

When you finish setting up your file you can close the window or just click the back button.

You have to specify the .x file which the application will read the textures from.

A window will prompt asking you where all the materials will be created. It is HIGHLYrecommended creating a new folder for each project/model/stage...

You need to specify which kind of map you want add to your materials.

The application will ask you the path where the maps you specified previously are stored.

You will be asked if ALL your Maps have any suffix, if so, specify it.

At last, you can choose whether to attach the created materials to your MMD Project or not. Note that if you have the project already opened you need to restart your MMD in order to apply the changes.

If some materials have errors (the most common "issue" is that the application couldn't find the file because it doesn't exist) a window like this will prompt, letting you know which materials hasn't been applied.
