Previously if you did e.g.

   with in_database(u'foo'):
       bar()

an exception would be raised because in_database does an isinstance(databsae, str) check which fails in Python 2 if a unicode string is passed in.

six's string_types should be used instead to provide bytes/unicode compatability for both Python 2 & Python 3.
