I just ran through this guide on a couple of Pi3's, worked like a charm. Thankyou.
I noted a couple of things that might be worth updating, hence this PR with my proposed (fairly minimal) changes.
The default location for the
cmdline.txt
andconfig.txt
files has changed recently; they are now in/boot/firmware/
, there is a good, clear, notice of this in the original locations so not much of a problem, but worth updating I think. The UDEV permissions appear to be good by default now.
I run these to give myself a local text console, so I have added how to do that to the end of the instructions; you just need add a boot commandline option to map the console.
PS: I dont run any GUI (I tried in the past, it's not a good experience, especially with a Pi3) so I have not tried any of the X11 parts of your instructions.
