2026.02.10 YouTube Video ARM64EC platform support in the 64-bit IDE revealed in preview mode Celebrating Delphi’s 31st: Join The Special Anniversary event!
Possibly ARM64EC support in the 13.1 release. (No guarantee on release date)
One reason for Windows ARM Support is that Microsoft approached Embarcadero asking why a piece of software written with Delphi is very popular on macOS and is not available on Microsoft Windows ARM.
Ian Barker comment on this blog post from David Cornelius.
There are, as the article and various comments point out, a lot of other options for having code formatting (some better than others) - Jedi, cnWizards, GExperts, MMX, and PasFmt (which is the one I prefer and use myself and I think does an excellent job). Most of the 3rd party options do a far better job than the outdated formatter that was removed. We do intend to bring back formatting, of course, but, for now, the best option is one of the several third-party options.
Some discussion on future plans: See wiki page for full transcript
- 64-bit IDE transition will be gradual
- 3GB memory limit removed
- 64-bit database drivers needed
- MySQLno longer releases a 32-bit driver (can use MariaDBs for a workaround)
- Will eventually retire 32-bit IDE
- Will eventually lose support for older 32-bit platforms (except 32-bit Windows which will probably stay forever)
- Customers should move to 64-bit (example 64-bit runs better on Windows ARM devices)
- Smart Code and AI components in RAD Studio 13 as part of long term strategy
- "The idea is to have a small engine that isn’t complete and isn’t "done," but above all it's an engine designed to be extended - by us and also by developers." An architecture you can build upon...like FireDAC is used for various databases.
- Language enhancements
- Part of their target of younger developers and developers coming from other languages
- Goal to evolve a language but maintain high level of backward compatiblity
- A "breaking" version is likely far off, but preparation in place
- Target modernizing of ancient codebases
- Example to convert MDI into modern application with tabs to make it look more like it was meant for Windows 11
- Renewed push for Linux Desktop (FMXLinux) for kiosk/dedicated task type applications to prevent typical Windows related headaches
- Secure development practices key for future
- Currently in favorable position (compiled code, fewer dependencies..)
- Will exploit this further in the future

2025.03.20Public Statement Ticket Comment from Marco Cantu RSS-1887 Codeinsight and CodeCompletion still useless in 12.2
“It is time for you lot to get out your comfort zones“ we do it, don’t worry. We are in touch with many customers, have been getting code for specific examples (including large customers projects) and have been spending significant resources addressing specific use cases scenarios at the DelphiLSP engine level and at the compiler level. We were able to fix specific cases, but their impact on the customers at large has been minimal. We are now back to the drawing board and making design changes to the architecture, because handling specific scenarios is not working. We are aware of the situation and prioritizing work in this direction. We are having numerous direct calls with customers, but open to more conversations. Drop us an email and we can arrange an online meeting.

2025.03.13Public Statement made during the 12v3 launch webinar by Nuno Castro (a Product Manager at Embarcadero)
To finish with I would like to say that Delphi LSP quality is not yet where we wanted it to be especially for customers with large code bases but on the next release we will tackle this problem from a different angle and we will try a new architecture to solve some of the issues that our customers with large code bases are facing and we hope that it will bring better stability and quality overall

2024.07.29 Blog Post by Marco Cantu Delphi 12 And C++Builder 12 Community Editions Released!
Notes from Delphi 12 webinar from November 2023
- Visual Assist for Delphi? No plans to share at this point.
- CDATA no longer offers FireDAC integration - use ODBC or WebServices access
- There is no update available on the Community Edition yet
- 64-bit IDE is "going to come" and there is actually an internal-build that is 64-bit capable but it is not something ready to be released. It is definitely something they are working on. (It might support debugging 64-bit apps only and you may have to use the 32-bit IDE for debugging 32-bit apps.)
