A web application for tracking baby care activities including feeding, diaper changes, and more.

Installation

  1. Clone the repository:
git clone https://github.com/ikow/Baby-Care.git
cd baby-care
  1. Install dependencies:
cd backend
npm install
  1. Create a .env file in the backend directory with the following variables:
PORT=5001
MONGODB_URI=mongodb://localhost:27017/baby_care
TIMEZONE=America/Los_Angeles
NODE_ENV=development
  1. Start the server:
npm start

Usage

Access the application through your web browser at http://localhost:5001

Theme Switching

  • Click the theme toggle button at the bottom of the sidebar
  • Theme preference is automatically saved
  • Transitions smoothly between dark and light modes

Language Settings

  • Access settings through the gear icon in the sidebar
  • Choose your preferred language from the dropdown
  • Language preference is automatically saved
  • UI updates immediately with selected language

Adding New Languages

To add a new language:

  1. Add the language code and translations to translations.js
  2. Add the language option to the settings page
  3. The i18n system will automatically handle the new language

Development

To run the application in development mode with auto-reload:

npm run dev

Testing

Run the test suite:

npm test
