Includes ids in both the query string (toQuery) and the JSON body (toString).
Sends requests with ids through POST /documents/fetch, so long lists of IDs don't hit URL length limits.
An empty ids array returns no documents rather than every document.
Validation
Run with the repo's Docker setup against meilisearch-enterprise:v1.55:
spotlessApply ran, and all 116 unit tests pass, including 3 new ones in DocumentsQueryTest.
The 3 new integration tests in DocumentsTest pass. They cover multiple IDs plus an unknown one, IDs with fields, and an empty list.
CI won't run the new integration tests, because the integrationTest task currently runs no tests (see #1006). To run them, I temporarily gave the task its test classes and classpath through an init script, which isn't part of this PR. With that in place, 224 of 240 integration tests pass. The same 16 tests fail on untouched main (221 of 237 pass), so this change doesn't cause them. #1006 lists those failures.
I didn't run these tests against latest, which is the version CI uses.
Notes
I didn't add a code sample, because I wasn't sure which sample key the docs expect. I can add one if you tell me the key.

Add an ids field to DocumentsQuery so getDocuments and getRawDocuments
can retrieve specific documents. Requests with ids use POST
/documents/fetch so long lists of IDs don't hit URL length limits.
Fixesmeilisearch#841
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The SDK adds an ids property to DocumentsQuery. Typed and raw document retrieval use the /fetch POST route when either filter or ids is non-null. Tests cover ID serialization and document retrieval by ID.
Changes: Document ID retrieval
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Add IDs to DocumentsQuery src/main/java/com/meilisearch/sdk/model/DocumentsQuery.java, src/test/java/com/meilisearch/sdk/DocumentsQueryTest.java
DocumentsQuery adds an ids property and includes it in query-string and JSON serialization. Tests check ID ordering and omission when unset.
Retrieve documents by IDs src/main/java/com/meilisearch/sdk/Documents.java, src/test/java/com/meilisearch/integration/DocumentsTest.java
Typed and raw retrieval select /fetch when ids is non-null. Integration tests cover known and unknown IDs, selected fields, and an empty ID list.
ID-based retrieval has no established merge-blocking defect. Comparing the raw response total numerically is an optional test improvement.

Explanation
The title "Add support for getting documents by ID" matches the main change. The PR adds an ids option to DocumentsQuery, and getDocuments and getRawDocuments use it to fetch documents by ID through the /fetch route. The linked issue #841 asks for the same capability.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #841 requires document retrieval by IDs. DocumentsQuery adds ids and serializes it in toQuery() and toString(). getDocuments and getRawDocuments send any non-null ids through POST /documents/fetch. The supplied PR evidence reports tests for multiple IDs, unknown IDs, selected fields, and an empty ID array. The focused source and unit-test evidence supports the implementation and serialization behavior.

Assert the raw total as a number.
Matchers.containsString("\"total\":2") is a substring match. It also accepts "total":20 through "total":29 and "total":200 through "total":299. Parsing the value and comparing it to 2 checks the exact total. The typed assertion checks only the returned IDs.
String rawResult = index.getRawDocuments(query);
- assertThat(rawResult, Matchers.containsString("\"total\":2"));+ int total = JsonParser.parseString(rawResult).getAsJsonObject().get("total").getAsInt();+ assertThat(total, equalTo(2));
