GOAL
At the conclusion of the education season, new recruits should be comfortable with the following topics:
Basic Java/OOP
wpilibj
Electronics (sensors, I/O)
Electronics (technical skills - e.g. soldering)
Dashboard programming with LabVIEW
Basic control theory - e.g. PID, bang-bang, dead reckoning
VC with git
Furthermore, we must ensure a high retention rate by keeping education fun and stimulating, as well as by keeping the recruits as close as possible.
The Proposed Solution
Teach the above topics via multiple small groups dedicated to completing and making projects with a small, simple robot platform that enables us to program with ease and tinker with electronic hardware. Each small group will be led by a veteran member, and as time progresses recruits will be encouraged to experiment on their own, with respect to simple goals. We shall also assign regular homework that relates to the different projects.
