Introduction

The MoMo system is designed to be a highly configurable but very easy to use platform for remote monitoring and eventually control of physical infrastructure. There are two components:

  • An embedded hardware system that is place on the infrastructure consisting of a controller, communications module and various (MoMo)
  • A software web backend that collects, stores and presents data from various MoMos.

This document discusses the architecture of the MoMo hardware. MoMo is modular. At minimum, a complete Momo unit consists of a controller module (based around the PIC24F16KA101 16 bit embedded microprocessor). To actually make MoMo do things, however, you need to add additional modules like sensors and communication channels. All of the modules are connected over a local networking protocol based on i2c.
