LAIDefinedForEachPFT
A new leaf area index (LAI) input file was created which defines LAI for each plant functional type (pft). The new file is based on a dataset which uses MODIS data and a phenological model to estimate LAI (described in Stöckli, R., T. Rutishauser, I. Baker, M. A. Liniger, and A. S. Denning (2011), A global reanalysis of vegetation phenology, J. Geophys. Res., 116, G03020, doi:10.1029/2010JG001545). The dataset used is a special version obtained from Reto Stöckli which contains the per pft information for 1988-2010 which was also used in Lorenz et al. 2013 (J. Climate, 26, 10077–10100. doi: http://dx.doi.org/10.1175/JCLI-D-13-00040.1). A description on how the dataset for CABLE was produced is attached (Merge_CLMReto_pft_to_CABLE.doxc) as well as a short evaluation showing the difference in a ACCESS1.4 AMIP run between output using the standard dataset and the new per pft dataset (LAI_standard_and_perPFT.pdf).
