Offline benchmarks

Single site and global offline benchmark tests

Single-site

Single site CABLE runs have been performed for 12 flux tower locations. A single vegetation type has been chosen for each site. The input met forcing files are taken from PALS and the output have been uploaded to PALS for plotting and analysis. The plots can be viewed by entering the CABLE2.0_benchmark workspace.

Compared to the 'Public Model Outputs' on PALS using CABLE1.4b, results in the current release display much better energy and water conservation and better net radiation simulation in most sites. More details are available in the document attached below.

Global offline

A global offline simulation has been performed using GSWP2 meteorological forcing at 1 degree x 1 degree resolution and 3 hourly time step, for years 1986 to 1995. Surface input data (vegetation type etc) is specified through the gridinfo_CSIRO_1x1.nc file provided with the release and described in the CABLE user guide.

GPP and LE are compared to observational products in the document attached below.
